The youth of today are indeed the leaders of tomorrow who should, like the lotus flower as represented in the organisation’s Logo, always strive to rise and bloom above any limiting circumstances. UbumnaProject is a collective project aimed at creating a leadership mentality, positive attitude and responsible activity to the under-resourced youth and community of South Africa and ultimately the greater Africa.
Ubumna Project functions in three pillars i.e.
- Ubumna Leaders: a high school leadership development and skilling initiative,
- Ubumna Givers: a movement mobilizing the spirit of giving by partnering with other organization that aim to meet different community needs
- Ubumna Africa: a celebration of Africa’s diversity through platforms that will also encourage brainstorming sessions amongst the African youth on how to move forward as a fully established African nation
About the Founder
Ubumna Project was founded by Ntokozo Myeki, a B.Com Economics graduate from the University of the Western Cape, who has subsequently worked and climbed through the ranks as a Merchandise Planner for various retail companies.
I have known Ntokozo for over 13 years now. When I met her in our first year at university, like with most people something drew me towards her. It did not take me very long to realise that her free spirit and warm personality is what attracted me and everyone else towards her. I am just too happy and excited to see her passion and determination finally come to life. L.M
Ntokozo is naturally someone who is passionate and determined. She has shown this passion and determination in everything she does and has always been clear about her vision and dreams.
As a young lady hardly in her 20’s, Ntokozo was bothered by the low levels of literacy in our rural communities caused by our social disparities and access to information or lack there-off. She was always very passionate about making a difference in people’s lives and it is this passion that drove her to founding Ubumna.
The birth of Ubumna Projects to me did not come as a surprise, it is something that has been brewing for a long time. The timing is perfect, she has been very deliberate in gaining the spiritual and emotional strength she needs. I say it with such conviction that I have no doubt she is going to make a success of this organization, not because she works hard but because she will be doing something very close to her heart. L.M
